Glazed Ceramic Daisy Vase

Bergs Potter

$55.00

Bergs Potter’s elegant, fluted ceramic ‘Daisy’ vase, available in emerald green or golden ochre glaze, honors Margrethe II, the long-reigning queen of Denmark. When she was born in 1940, shortly after the Nazi invasion, prominent jewelers created marguerite daisy jewelry as tribute to the young princess. The flower became a popular symbol of patriotism and is Denmark’s national flower.

In 1942, during one of World War II’s bleakest periods, young accountant Victor Berg inherited a ceramics shop in Copenhagen. Wanting to bring life and color to his war-depressed neighbors, he began selling flowers alongside ceramics. His combination of fresh flowers and aged pottery succeeded and grew to multiple locations. His two children joined him in the 1980s, and their love of plants and history led them across Europe in search of the continent’s best pottery. In Tuscany, they found the skilled craftsmen who still make their terracotta pots today. Now, a third generation of Bergs continues their grandfather’s legacy, producing timeless designs made to last.
