This Victorian-era, salt-glazed  pitcher features a raised floral vine decoration and is a vivid cerulean blue. In the late-19th century, potters in England produced a glossy, watertight surface by adding salt to directly to the kiln while firing at extremely high temperatures. The result was an orange-peel texture and glass-like non-porous finish.
