Tess Morley Table Tazza Pair
This pair of table tazzas was created using around 100 sea shells. The shallow bowl is a single Pecten maximus or Great Scallop shell and the stem and base are decorated with tiny Dove Snail, Turkey Wing Clam, Strawberry Top, Common Welk, Pinctada oyster, Noble Pectin and other sea snail and cockle shells. The base is covered in marbled paper and signed and dated by the artist.
The intricate, shell-embellished designs of Tess Morley are exquisite examples of nature’s boundless beauty. Morley began creating shellwork sailor’s valentines as a child growing up on the coast of England. Today, an internationally-renowned artist, she continues to create shellwork masterpieces such as the obelisks, decorative panels and small objets d’art commissioned by R. Runberg. Morley also has dedicated much of her career to preserving historic shellwork of grottos and follies on properties managed by the National Trust of Great Britain.
Each tazza measures H 4.75in, W 5in, D 4.5in
