Amaryllis Bulb

Our forced amaryllis are a holiday tradition! Each year, we order the best bulbs from the finest grower in Holland in March and refrigerate them through summer in darkness and dormancy, mimicking winter. Around Halloween, they are ready to awaken in vases in the warm sunshine indoors. Depending on the varietal and how warm and sunny the room, bulbs should bloom within 4 to 6 weeks.

Choose from six varietals and plan to pick up at our cottage at 2321 Crescent Avenue.

Care instructions: Keep bulb in cool, dark basement or refrigerator crisper drawer until ready to force. Once placed in vase, remember to keep the water level just below the base of the bulb to prevent rotting.

A note on timing: Mother Nature is on her own schedule and each varietal differs, but forced bulbs generally bloom in 4-6 weeks, more quickly the brighter and warmer the room.
