The Loom placemats celebrate one of Egypt’s oldest surviving textile traditions. Its patchwork is made from fabrics handwoven by artisans in a village in Upper Egypt that was a centre of textile production in ancient Egyptian times and became renowned for its intricate weaving during the Coptic era. Today, only a handful of artisans carry on the craft, working on traditional looms to weave stripes, checks and geometric patterns in ochre, dusty pink, blue and soft green, each carrying the subtle irregularities of handwork. These textiles are cut and pieced together into a patchwork whose composition varies from piece to piece, giving each placemat its own character. Machine wash, gentle cold cycle. Reshape and dry flat; do not tumble dry or bleach. Cool iron if needed.

Anūt celebrates Egyptian heritage and craftsmanship, bringing the light, warmth, and magic of Egypt to the home. Products are handmade by artisans across Egypt: from the pottery of Fayoum to linens made by the textile weavers of Akhmim. They celebrate the best of a land with a millenniums-long history of fine craft.
