The Taya platter features a modern face with surprisingly ancient inspiration: the stylized face, geometric headdress and strong linear decoration echo the expressive faces and portraiture of ancient Coptic textiles. Handmade in Fayoum, Egypt, a region south of Cairo with a centuries-old pottery tradition, the pared-back blue and white palette lets the strong lines carry the design. Display Taya as a centerpiece on a coffee table or console, hang her on the wall as ceramic art, or put her to work serving dinner or passing hors d’oeuvres. Handwash only.
